December 26, 2011 Posted by admin

Christmas embodies the festive spirit when extravagant Christmas celebrations are in full swing. One way of displaying your Christmas spirit is decorating your front lawn with a nativity scene. Christmas can come alive with an exquisitely crafted nativity scene. Nativity sets are available in supermarkets and in Christmas catalogues. They personify Christmas celebrations by depicting the birth of Christ. These nativity sets realistically portray the birth of Christ in a manger and by doing this, they capture the true essence of Christmas.

Description of a nativity scene

Placing a nativity scene on your front lawn will proclaim your Christmas spirit to neighbors and friends. These nativity scenes are highly durable and can be stored for reuse. Nativity scenes emphasize the humble beginnings of Christ and how he personified true Christian values. They are strong reminders of the Christian faith and its modest inception. Many families set up nativity scenes to reassert their Christian value systems. Nativity scenes usually contain a crèche with baby Christ, Joseph, Mary, the Wise Men, and the shepherds. Putting up this display in the lawn is certain to elicit attention from passers-by.

Life-like aspect

The most enthralling aspect of these Nativity scenes is that they are so lifelike. A great deal of hard work is involved in their construction and assemblage. Nativity scenes etch in painstaking detail the wondrous birth of Christ in a dilapidated manger. When these lifelike figurines are placed on the front lawn they capture the quintessential Christmas spirit. Furthermore, they reiterate Christian principles and their persistence through the ages.

Nativity scenes have long been used on front porches and lawns. They are an integral part of Christmas celebrations. They have evolved from small scale replicas to large size figures. No matter their size, their continued popularity highlights the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Nativity scenes are colorful and striking; they invest the front lawn with a graceful disposition. Their purchase and assembly is a hassle-free task requiring little skill. Hence, buying a nativity scene for Christmas display is appropriate. A nativity scene instantaneously proclaims your Christian faith, and your adherence to Christian values.

Making evergreen banner

December 26, 2011 Posted by admin

A Christmas banner is similar to a wreath except that the greenery is shaped into a line instead of a circle and a banner hangs horizontally above a mantel or on a wall at the time of christmas writen merry christas on it. This evergreen banner will adorn the dining room for the holidays and the scent of freshly cut greens will fill the home with the smells of Christmas.

Steps to make at home

At first purchase evergreen branches or harvest some from garden. Holly, fir, pine, redwood and cedar all work well. Select two of the strongest branches and place them end to end overlapping them. Wire the ends together with floral wire and also known as paddle wire. This will be the framework of the banner. Now select a few shorter branches and wire the ends of the stems to the center point of the frame and with the tips of the branches facing out toward either end of the banner. Continue adding greenery until the banner looks full and lush with green colour. Turn the banner over and select the two strongest branches. String wire between them so that it can hang the banner when it is complete. Use several thicknesses of wire for extra support to hand it properly and safe too.
Tips
For a bow shaped banner, arrange the two foundation branches so that both are arching downward for the saft and better look. For an s-shaped banner it is better to secure the branches so that one is curving upward, the other curving downward. Twigs or bare branches can be added to the evergreen foliage to achieve a designer look. Try painting the bare branches with gold or silver spray paint to add beauty.
Decorating banner instruction
Twine metallic garland, gold-colored beads or gold braid through the foliage. Now attach gold ball ornaments to the banner by stringing a piece of wire through the loop on the balls and attaching them to the banner. Tuck the ornaments into the greens and tie a large metallic bow to the center of the banner, looping the streamers through the evergreen. Add a string of tiny Christmas lights to the banner. Hang the finished piece with a strong picture hook over the fireplace or above the holiday buffet table.

Having an attractive Santa Claus:

December 26, 2011 Posted by admin

The legend of the Santa Claus:

Gift giving is an important aspect of Christmas celebrations, which has become a universal phenomenon. The concept of a mythical figure who brings gifts to children derives from Saint Nicholas, a good-hearted bishop of 4th-century Asia Minor. The early Dutch settlers in America modeled a gift-giving Saint Nicholas around his feast day of December 6. English Colonists while settling in North America adopted aspects of this celebration into their Christmas holiday, and Sinterklaas became Santa Claus, or Saint Nick. Even today in the UK, whilst this name is widely known, Father Christmas is more common, and is also used in many West African countries. However according to the Anglo-American tradition, this jovial fellow arrives on Christmas Eve on a sleigh pulled by reindeer, and lands on the roofs of houses. He then climbs down the chimney, leaves gifts for the children, and eats the food they leave for him. It is also believed that he spends the rest of the year making toys and keeping lists on the behavior of the children.

How to make the Santa attractive this Christmas:

No one of us can even think of celebrating Christmas without the bearded old man wearing his lush red and furry overcoat, darting across the snow in his open sledge and jingling his bells to spread the good cheer of Christmas. Almost all of us and particularly the children wait all throughout the year for the Christmas Eve, when we have our very own Santa Claus, showering us all the gifts and blessings to make our Christmas very unique and very special. No Christmas decoration would be complete without Santa Claus. Decorations can easily be created from objects found around the house and make perfect additions to a warm and delightful Christmas morning. Addition of a Santa puppet just adds more fun and brings out the real Christmas spirits. Santa Claus decorations are increasingly popular selections for Christmas. There are simple ways to make for the small children to make their own Santa masks this Christmas. All that is needed is a paper plate, cotton balls, and markers. Simply by drawing Santa’s face onto the paper plate and adding the cotton balls for the beard along with a creative touch will surely raise the spirits of the children this festive season.
